Treeton Cricket Club buys new kit with donation from Jones Homes
Treeton Cricket Club has been able to supply its junior teams with new equipment for next season, thanks to a donation from a local housebuilder.
Jones Homes, is currently building new homes at its Beaumont Grange development in the village, provided a donation that allowed the club to buy new equipment for its players which included new cricket bats, a portable scoreboard, pop-up nets, and batting tees.
Treeton Cricket Club, which is based off Washfield Lane, has a range of junior teams for all ages and abilities, with players aged from five to 18.
Eleanor Barber, co-ordinator for the junior cricket teams, said: “This donation has allowed us to purchase further training equipment that we require to continually provide cricket in the local area to the growing number of people.
“The club has training and matches throughout the week during the season, so equipment can often be worn down quite fast. This donation from Jones Homes means a lot to us, as it allows us to provide our junior team with new equipment that will see us through the new season next year.
“We are a friendly, sociable, and inclusive club. This donation allows us to focus on expanding and getting more younger people involved in cricket, to build a bigger community within the club.”
Philippa Ingram, sales advisor at Beaumont Grange, visited the cricket club and enjoyed some time watching the team during one of their cricket matches, using their new equipment.
Jayne Swift, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “We are always keen to support local community groups wherever possible so when Treeton Cricket Club first approached us, we were more than happy to donate.
“The club is a great asset for the village and provides a safe and welcoming environment for young people to practise their hobby and make new friends.
“The club is just down the road from our Beaumont Grange development so we will be keeping an eye on their results and wishing them all the best for the rest of the season.”
Jones Homes is building 94 new homes at Beaumont Grange, off Wood Lane, including a mix of three, four and five-bedroom houses.
