New Show Home opens 25 years after completing our first properties on the Isle of Sheppey

New Show Home opens 25 years after completing our first properties on the Isle of Sheppey

Jones Homes Southern has been a constant presence on the island since it began construction work on its Kingsborough Manor development in Eastchurch in 1999, handing over the first completed homes the following year.

In that time it has built 380 homes at developments across Sheppey. And when construction work comes to an end it will have completed a total of 685 homes on the island.

The anniversary comes as Jones Homes launches a new show home at its Shurland Park development in Minster on Sea, where it is building 171 new homes on land off Larch End. Mayor of Swale, Councillor Ben Martin, cut the ribbon to declare the three-bedroom show home officially open during a launch event on Saturday 29 March.

Sara Stanhope, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Southern, said: “We have been delivering high-quality homes to customers on the Isle of Sheppey for the last quarter of a century and it’s satisfying to know that so many local people have had the chance to enjoy living in a Jones Homes property over that period.

“Our developments have made a major contribution to the area through the supply of new housing, formation of brand-new communities, job creation and increased spending in the local economy as well as significant funding for vital infrastructure.

“The show home launch at Shurland Park was a good opportunity to reflect on what we have delivered over the past 25 years and to look forward to the additional homes and investment that we will be providing in the years ahead.”

Jones Homes first began building on the Isle of Sheppey in 1999 when it started work on its Kingsborough Manor development in Eastchurch, a flagship scheme of 211 four and five-bedroom executive homes which was completed in 2021.

While work continued at Kingsborough Manor, Jones Homes extended its presence to Minster on Sea. In 2009, the housebuilder started construction on 128 homes at Shurland Place, with work finishing in 2015.

The neighbouring Shurland Park development, a scheme of 171 homes, launched in April 2023. To date, 53 properties have been built with 41 occupied and a further 12 reserved.

Planning permission has also been granted on a new development of 175 homes on a neighbouring parcel of land off Heron Drive. As part of its planning agreement for these homes, Jones Homes will provide £1.8 million in funding for local services, including £837,961 for primary education, £500,000 for highways improvements, and £197,968 for health provision.
