Jones Homes provides boost to Lenham Big Build Project

Nursery School’s Big Build Project has a received a fundraising boost from local housebuilder Jones Homes.

The company, which is building at the Westwood Park development in the village, has donated £500 to help finance the appeal’s next big fundraising push.

The Big Build Project needs to raise a total of £1 million to fund the construction of a new high-tech nursery building on land opposite the school’s current site on Ham Lane. The new building will enable the nursery to expand the care it provides for local families as well as providing a venue for community meetings and events.

Funding of around £500,000 has already been secured from Lenham Parish Council, meaning a further £500,000 is required to reach the £1 million target. The appeal is also aiming to raise a further £100,000 to equip and furnish the new facility.

Sally Barr, Chairman and Trustee of the Lenham Big Build project, said: “Lenham Nursery has been looking to expand into a new, purpose built, sustainable nursery and has the site, planning permission and now financial support from the local Parish Council.

“We are endeavouring to raise around half a million pounds to match the funding already received to get the nursery built and we are also attempting to raise £100k to equip and furnish the building and play areas.

“The £500 donation from Jones Homes is a great addition to our fundraising pot and will help to finance our marketing and events program for the next big push.”

Jones Homes is building 70 homes at Westwood Park, just down the road from the nursery school on Ham Lane.

Sara Stanhope, Sales and Marketing Director for Jones Homes Southern, said: “The Lenham Big Build Project is an inspiring initiative which exemplifies community spirit and determination at its very best.

“The expansion of Lenham Nursery School will increase the provision of childcare in Lenham and the surrounding area, as well as providing a social hub for the wider community.

“It is an extremely important project and one we are proud to be supporting. We wish the campaign every success as it embarks on the next stage of its fundraising activities and look forward to seeing how the project evolves.”
