Couple buy ideal home after recommendation from neighbour
Rotherham couple Tim and Kerry Victor weren’t even looking for a new home.
Yet within days of receiving a visit from their next-door neighbours, the couple had reserved a new four-bedroom detached house at Jones Homes’ Beaumont Grange development in nearby Treeton.
The neighbours had popped round with a leaflet about Beaumont Grange, and after seeing the brochure for the development, Tim, 36, and Kerry, 33, instantly fell in love with the layout of the Hollin house type.
The couple and their seven-year-old son Theo, moved into their new home at the end of September.
Tim said: “Although we had done a bit of house hunting, Kerry and I could never find a home that had everything we wanted, so moving house wasn’t really on the agenda.
“But when we described our ideal home to our neighbours, they recommended Beaumont Grange – where they themselves were moving to – and brought a leaflet round for us to look at.
“We were instantly won over by the Hollin house type and within a few days had reserved the house. We can’t thank them enough for the recommendation.”
With a dedicated downstairs study and four upstairs bedrooms, the Hollin house type ticked every box for the couple – and meant they didn’t need to sacrifice one of their bedrooms for homeworking space.
Tim said: “One of the main reasons we picked this house was for the dedicated study. As I work from home, it was my priority to have a separate study area and not have to use one of our bedrooms as an office – which is what I had to do in our last house.
“Now that we have that extra bedroom back, Kerry has been able to create her own walk-in wardrobe which she’s really pleased with.”
Tim, a resource manager for IT company, and Kerry, a primary school teacher, used Jones Homes’ Agency Assist scheme to help sell their four-bedroom in Waverley, about three miles away.
Tim added: “Our home ended up selling within a month and a half thanks to Agency Assist – it’s a great tool that I would definitely recommend using.”
With Agency Assist, Jones Homes instructs an independent estate agent who will secure a realistic valuation on a customer’s home, and work with them to progress the sale. Jones Homes also pay the estate agency fees up to a maximum of £3,000.
Now having lived at Beaumont Grange for almost six months, Tim and Kerry are delighted with their new home.
Tim said: “Our last two houses have also been new-builds; we love the fact no-one else has lived in them before and that we can put our own mark on them.
“Everything about this house is better than our last. While our previous kitchen was small and cramped, we now have an open-plan space with a breakfast bar and dining table. It’s much more of a sociable place and has encouraged us to spend more quality time together as a family.
“I also like having a detached garage, which I’ve been using to store all my gym equipment. With both an office and gym at home, I’m all sorted.
“Theo’s favourite part of the new house has to be his bedroom. It’s bigger than his last and we’ve been able to mount a television to the wall so that he can play on his Xbox; it’s difficult to get him out of there now!”
The couple also love the development itself and its quaint village location.
