Natland’s beauty lies in its simplicity. This quaint village boasts a peaceful atmosphere and a strong sense of community. Perfect for those seeking a slower pace of life, Natland offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle. Yet, the best part is you don’t have to sacrifice modern conveniences. Kendal, a vibrant market town overlooked by the ruins of a 12th-century castle and situated on the banks of the River Kent is brimming with shops, restaurants, leisure facilities, and cultural attractions, is just a stone’s throw away. Explore Kendal’s historic streets, catch a performance at the Brewery Arts Centre or stock up on delicious local produce from a plethora of Cumbrian food producers. If you are a serious foody, Cumbria boasts 13 Michelin Star restaurants, 3 of which are located in Cartmel approximately 15 miles away. For something a little closer to home however, The Punchbowl pub is barely a 15-minute walk from our Helmdale development and is a popular meeting place for residents of Natland and neighbouring villages.

Family-Friendly Living with Excellent Schools

For families, Natland offers a nurturing environment. The well-regarded St Mark’s Church of England Primary School is located right in the village, providing a secure and stimulating learning environment for your children. Secondary education options are readily available in nearby Kendal.

The Enchantment of the Lake District on Your Doorstep

Nature enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise. Natland sits on the very edge of the Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Windermere, the largest natural lake in England, can be accessed in less than a 25-minute drive to the pretty National Trust Fell Foot picnic spot while countless hiking and biking trails weave through breathtaking landscapes. Helm Hill, a prominent feature overlooking Natland, offers panoramic vistas across the village, Scout Scar, Whitebarrow National Nature Reserve and the awe-inspiring Lakeland fells beyond. Imagine waking up to these breathtaking views from the comfort of your new home at Helmdale!

Exploring Natland’s Hidden Gems

Beyond the grandeur of the National Park, Natland itself boasts hidden gems. Take a leisurely stroll through the quaint charms of Natland Village Green, which along with Natland Village Hall plays host to a number of community events throughout the year. For a taste of local history, explore St Mark’s Church, a beautiful Grade II listed building. Although the current building was built in 1910, the church itself has a history dating back to the 12th century as there have been 4 churches built around Natland Green. The first was built in 1246 and was thought to be no more than a room in size. Much, much later it was probably also used as a School. Little is known of the second church which was built on a different site in 1735. It is from this date that a list of parish clergy can be found in the church porch.

On a sunny afternoon, grab a picnic and visit one of Kendal town’s green spaces, or just take off in any direction, as you are completely spoiled for choice of picnic spots in this area.

Convenience at Your Fingertips

For your everyday shopping needs, a wide choice of supermarkets are conveniently located just outside of Natland in Kendal. This ensures you can easily stock up on groceries without venturing far. Or better still let the supermarket come to you and simply order online for home delivery.
